Ellamas Mission

Ellamas is dedicated to providing a web portal that ties together the needs of the expanding llama and alpaca community.  We want to provide the needed content in way of links, and online information and improved communication throughout the community.  We are now offering the only free user-uploaded photo classified advertising for the llama community on the web!  Banner advertising has been designed to meet every budget, and is designed to allow advertisers to promote their farm or business to the thousands of visitors to ellamas.  Free discussion boards share information and explore concerns of llama and alpaca owners.  Articles and contributions are encouraged from readers.  We believe that Metcalf's Law is true: the value of the network is proportional to the square of the number of users.  Use ellamas.com today, and add to the strength of our growing, online community!

Your Hosts

Fred and Laura Keller have owned llamas since 1993, and are active in showing and breeding llamas with fine fiber and pleasing dispositions.  They have operated a successful farm web site for Yellow Wood Llamas since 1996.  One of their most popular venues has been Llamacam.com, providing a glimpse through live cameras located in the llama barn.  This site has been featured on ZDTV, Lycos.com, Discover.com and numerous web cam sites, and receives hundreds of visits per day.  The technical challenges of operating live cameras and networked computers and servers running NT and Linux has provided the experience to launch ellamas.com as the premier web portal for llama enthusiasts.

Fred and Laura are no strangers to technical challenges, as both have degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University, as well as Professional Engineering licenses.  Their combined experience in the engineering field totals over 50 years, with considerable experience in computer automation and programming.  Raising llamas originally provided an outlet to the academic challenges of engineering careers, but now the combination of the llama online community and web culture has provided a perfect match of love of these wonderful animals and today's expanding technology.
